LUMINARIAS EN OLDTOWN
Ya se que suena raro estar hablando de Diciembre cuando ya estamos en Marzo, pero no he podido ponerme al corriente… asi que bueno.. aqui esta algo sobre lo que Hicimos en 7 de Diciembre.
SI!! Temia no poder ver una de las tradiciones navideñas aqui el Albuquerque… las luminarias. Una vez mas, gracias a nuestra amiga Cynthia Wooley pudimos verlas .
Pero que es una luminaria? Es una bolsa de papel con arena en el fondo a la que se le pone una veladora encendida. Las luminarias se colocan en techos, escalones, caminitos y se ven muy bonitas cuando obscurese. En old town hubo un paseo de las luminarias , ademas pudimos apreciar musica en el kiosko y un arbol gigantesco de navidad que se encendio ante la mirada de todos los asitentes, marcando asi el inicio de la epoca
Ese dia el autobús era gratuito.
Para quienes somos del estado de Veracruz, las luminarias les parecera algo familiar pues en Tuxpan cuando se celebra el niño perdido, las ventanas de las casa son alumbradas por veladoras… y los niños salen a las calles con carritos hechos por ellos que tambien tienen veladoras encendidas como recordatorio de cuando jesus siendo nino se les perdio a sus padres … precisamente el 7 de diciembre!

Yes!!! I was afraid we were not going to able to see one of the traditions in Albuquerque: the luminarias, once again, thanks to Cynthia we were able to see them. But what is a luminaria?: theyare bags of paper which buttom is filled with sand and then a lit candle is placed. The luminarias are placed on ceilings, stairs, paths, and it really looks nice when it is dark! There were some singing in the kiosk and a big Christmas tree was lit. thtd ay the rapid ride was free.
For those who are from Veracruz state , the luminarias will sound something familiar since in the city of Tuxpam, thw windous of many houses are lit with candles … and the children go out to the streets pulling cars made by them and also carrying lit candles on them this serves as a remembrance of when Jesus got lost as a child…. This is commemorated on Decemebr 7th … the day when we were in Old Town!
