EL Camino Real

El camino....


Uno de los lugares que visitamos de regreso de T or C fue el museo dedicado a “El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro” ruta de comercio de 1598 a 1882 que abarca 1600 millas entre la ciudad de México pasando por Chihuahua, cruzando el Río Grande hasta llegar a Albuquerque, Santa Fe y Taos. Y aunque solo se menciona la ciudad de México en mucha de la bibliografía, es el mismo camino que salía del puerto de Veracruz, como se puede ver en el museo que visitamos. Aunque esta ruta ya existía entre las tribus indígenas antes de la llegada de los españoles…. Fue muy interesante ver parte de la historia de México en este museo. Además la ambientación del museo me pareció excelente!... me gustaría que en Xalapa hubiera museos de este tipo teniendo tanto de historia en nuestro estado y tan poco que se aprovecha.
Dos nombres de conquistadores ligados a este camino son Don Juan de Oñate y Francisco Vázquez de Coronado.



One of the places that we visited on the way back from T or C was the museum dedicated to “el Camino Real de Tierra Adentro” trade route from 1598 to 1882 and that is 1600 miles in length between the city of Mexico going through Chihuahua, the Rio Grande , Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Taos. Although Mexico city is mentioned as the origin of such route in various sources, this is the same rout that came from the port of Veracruz as we saw in this museum. Also this route already existed before the Spaniards arrival among the native Indians living within…. the area. For us it was very interesting to see part of the Mexican history being displayed , besides the way the museum had created an “environment’ for its displays seemed excellent to me! I would really love that Xalapa had museums of this kind having so much history in our state that is most of the times wasted.
Two names of Spanish conquerors linked to this area and mentioned in the museum are
Don Juan de Oñate and Francisco Vázquez de Coronado.
