The Owl Bar Café
Salimos de Albuquerque con nuestra amiga Judy Krystl y de camino a Ruidoso, nos detuvimos en San Antonio: una pequeña población donde se encuentra un café tradicional llamado “The Owl Bar Café”. http://cheserver.ent.ohiou.edu/werc/owlbar2001.htm Sus paredes estan cubiertas de fotos, billetes ( tanto americanos como de otros paises), objetos personales que los diferentes clientes han dejado para su exhibición , Probamos sus famosas hamburguesas hechas en casa y sus también caseras papas a la francesa mmmm deliciosas! (la receta de la famosa hamburguesa de chile verde no ha cambiado desde 1948). La dueña (Rowena) es amiga de Judy asi que tuvimos una pequeña charla sobre su historia, la cual empezó en 1945 cuando Frank Chávez y su esposa Dee abrieron este lugar. El Owl bar café era un lugar de reunión para los científicos atómicos quienes activaron el lugar de explosión Trinity (donde se llevo a cabo la primera bomba nuclear).
We left ABQ with our friend Judy Krystl and on our way to Ruidoso, we stopped at San Antonio, a small town where a nice traditional café called “the Owl Bar Café” is located http://abqstyle.com/albuquerque_restaurants/000026.html. Its walls were covered by pictures , bills (American and from other countries), personal objects that different clients had left for display, . We tried their famous home made hamburger and homemade potatoes..mmmmm delicious! (the recipe of the green chili cheese burger remains the same since 1948. The owner (Rowena) is a friend of Judy so we had a brief conversation with her and heard about the history of the which started in 1945 when Frank Chavez and his wife Dee opened this place.
