El dia de la tierra lleve a mis alumnos al evento que CNM organizo en esa fecha, ahi mis alumnos y yo pudimos ver lo que diferentes asociaciones tratan de hacer para evitar el deterioro en el mundo en que vivimos y aunque la escuela tiene grandes botes de basura para separacion de desechos (plastico y papel) no vi ningun lugar en donde se pudieran depositar las pilas probablemente porque hay algunas tiendas como Home Depot, en donde la gente puede depositar sus pilas usadas, tambien en Walmart podemos depositar nuestras bolsas de plastico y en el supermercado Smith´s podiamos hacerlo pero ahora ya quitaron el deposito, sin embargo, si llevamos nuestras propias bolsas (lo que casi siempre hacemos) nos hacen un descuento de entre 10 y 20 centavos dependiendo del numero de bolsas que no usamos.... ojala y esto de las bolsas se implemente pronto en Xalapa pues asi nos ahorrariamos mucho plastico y no se taparian tanto las alcantarillas con tanto desecho. En cuanto al reciclado de botellas de vidrio, hemos visto en las jardineras pequenos pedasos de vidrio azul,verde,cafe y blanco ....esto me parece un poco peligroso para la vista sobre todo cuando sopla el viento tan fuerte.
On the Earth Day I took my students to an event that CNM organized on that date. there, my students and I could hear about the different associations that try to avoid the worsement of our world and although the school has big trash cans were to deposit waste (plastic and paper mainly) I did not see any place where to deposit used batteries ..probably because there are some stores like Home Depot were people can deposit used batteries, also, we can leave our used plastic bags in Walmart and we could do it in Smth´s too,however they took the container away but if we carry our own bags (which we usually do) they make a discount between 10 t0 20 cents depending on the number of bags we didnot use ...I wish this could be soon implemented in Xalapa since we would save a lot of plastic and the sewers would not be bloqued with so much waste.
As for the recycling of glass bottles it is strange for me to see the green,blue,brown and white pieces of glass used on the sidewalks ...something I think could be dangerous for you eyes when the strong wind is blowing.
