Un santuario entre montanas
Mi compañera de trabajo y amiga Therese Samuels nos invito a visitar uno de los iconos de Nuevo México, un lugar que es visitado por miles de peregrinos especialmente en fechas claves de la religión católica, este lugar se encuentra en medio de un paisaje impresionante el cual contribuye en gran parte a crear el misticismo que se respira en el ambiente: me refiero al santuario de Chimayo.. aproximadamente a 2 horas de ABQ. Y visitado por miles de peregrinos en semana santa quienes buscan su curación tomando el barro del “posito” un hoyo en donde se encontró la cruz que ahora se encuentra en el altar y cuyos creyentes proclaman que es muy milagroso. La fundación de Chimayo se remonta a los inicios del siglo XVIII (ver sitio en espanol mara mas info)http://www.vozcatolica.org/95/chimayo.htm en ese mismo lugar solo que en, tiempos mas remotos se encontraba el lugar sagrado de los indios Tewa.
My colleague and friend Therese Samuels invited us to visit one of the icons of New Mexico, a place visited by thousands of pilgrims specially on key dates for the catholic religion, this place is surrounded by an impressive landscape which greatly contributes to create the mysticism you can feel in the environment : I am talking about the Chimayo Sanctuary … approximately 2 hours drive from ABQ and visited by thousands of pilgrims on Holly week looking for a cure by taking the miraculous sand in the hole in the ground (posito) where the crucifix that is now displayed in the center of the chapel and which curative powers are point out by the people. The founding of Chimayo dates back to the 18th century (click on this link to read more)http://chimayo.org/. In this very same place only that in more remote times this was the sacred site for the Tewa Indians.
