The garden of the gods is one of the national natural landmarks in the US the land was donated to Colorado Springs by Charles Elliott Perkins’ children in 1909 with the only condition that it would be kept the way it was.
THE CAMELS KISING

The Garden of the Gods has been the object of many studies over the years. The red rocks have been named and climbed and analyzed as to their origin and composition According to geologists, the story of the Garden of the Gods began nearly 300 million years ago, and then sixty million years ago -when the modern Rocky Mountains began their actual formation - the horizontal sedimentary rocks were elevated.
This garden has amazing rocks: some of them have received names such as The Gateway Rocks, the Tower of Babel, The Balanced Rock,The Cathedral Spires, The Three Graces, The Sleeping Indian, The Siamese Twins, the kissing camels, etc.

You can see here a picture of The Kissing Camels at the top. There is the Legend of the Kissing Camels, published in 1926 by Laura Mecum . While seeing these rocks I could easily picture the Indian settlements, the gold seekers pursuing their dream, and the first settlers going through the Gateways. The Fulbright teachers were given sometime to stay there for a walk through these amazing rock formations, so I had to take the chance although I must admit that my group got lost on the way back, but we managed to arrive right at the moment the bus was picking us to go back to the hotel.

Great pictures!

The area around Colorado Springs is wonderfully scenic. The last time I was there, we didn't get all the way to the top of Pike's Peak because the car broke down, but I really enjoyed the Garden of the Gods.

If you'd like to see some of the lakes here in New Mexico, Pat and I can take you sailing.

Welcome to Albuquerque and the land of Enchantment. Like Carol Anne, I remember our trip to Pike's Peak (many years ago). We drove most of the way up the highway to the top of the mountain. But, the water pump on our car failed, cutting short our trip. Only with great difficulty could we drive to a garage.

Since then, we've visited Colorado without car breakdowns, but we have not yet returned to Pike's Peak or seen the view from the top; that ultimate vista remains in our future.

Please excuse my terrible Spanish; I'm not quite fluent in the language and don't get many opportunities for practice. But, perhaps bad Spanish is better than no Spanish.
