Pike's peak

PIKE”S PEAKthe train depot

at the top
"O beautiful for spacious skies,For amber waves of grain,For purple mountain majestiesAbove the fruited plain!America! America!God shed His grace on thee,And crown thy good with brotherhoodFrom sea to shining sea!O beautiful for pilgrim feetWhose stern impassion'd stressA thorough fare for freedom beatAcross the wilderness.America! America!God mend thine ev'ry flaw,Confirm thy soul in self-control,Thy liberty in law.O beautiful for heroes prov'dIn liberating strife,Who more than self their country loved,And mercy more than life.America! America!May God thy gold refineTill all success be nobleness,And ev'ry gain divine.O beautiful for patriot dreamThat sees beyond the yearsThine alabster cities gleamUndimmed by human tears.America! America!God shed his grace on thee,And crown thy good with brotherhoodFrom sea to shining sea"

a nice view

On September 30th the Fulbright group went to a small train depot where a trin would take us to the top of Pike’s Mountain , a very famous mountain that is 14 110 feet high. During our way up we could see some lakes and pines. At the top the wind was blowing strongly and it was really cold: there were

some patches of snow beside some rocks , fortunately Fulbright had told us in advance we needed warm clothes and comfortable shoes for this occasion … looking at these landscapes I understand how Katherine Lee bates was inspired when she wrote “America the beautiful” by the end of 1800”s… enjoy the pictures!
